Spelling Rule for the Day:

Silent ‘e’

When there is a Silent ‘e’ on the end of a word (that is you don’t hear the ‘e’ sound, when saying the word), it can change short vowel sounds into long vowel sounds,
Words – can – cane
kit – kite
man – mane
dam – dame
hug – huge
